rapidly
On-Yomi: シツ — Kun-Yomi: はや.い
Elements:
rapidly, sickness, hospital, dart, drop, heavens
Heisig story:
Be sure to keep this character distinct from quick (Frame 1799) and swift (Frame 298). Picture a succession of poison darts (the sort that inflict sickness) flying out rapid-fire from a blowgun, so that "rapid-fire" can conjure up the proper image.
Koohii stories:
1) [akrodha] 30-5-2007(187): I picture a sick caveman, and two people rapidly blowing darts at him. One is blowing poison darts, the other is blowing antidote darts. Will the sick caveman live or die? Depends on how rapidly they fire.
2) [mantixen] 16-10-2008(88): If shot with a poison dart, sickness develops rapidly.
3) [rtkrtk] 4-2-2008(48): Hm, it's getting tougher to differentiate similar kanji: swift (#280 迅), hurry (#1146 急), quick (#1669 速). Let's consider rapidly as a rapid-fire weapon: rat-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat. This weapon fires poison darts rapidly in an automatic rapid-fire fashion. The poison darts are not lethal; they merely induce sickness in the victims.
4) [dingomick] 23-4-2007(18): The sick caveman is deteriorating rapidly from the rapid-fire gun that shot hime with sickening poison darts.
5) [bokuzukuri] 30-1-2006(9): See book.
