membrane
On-Yomi: マク
Elements:
membrane, moon, month, flesh, part of the body, graveyard, flowers, sun, day, large, St. Bernard
Heisig story:
The part of the body first affected by a stroll through a haunted graveyard is the skin, which gets goose bumps. But we save the word "skin" for another kanji, and use the odd word "membrane" here. Think of being so scared through and through that the goose flesh moves from the outside in, giving you goose membranes.
Koohii stories:
1) [notgoing2argue] 25-3-2007(287): In the moonlight of the graveyard I hear a zombie say, MMMMM..EMM…BRANEsssss.
2) [calittle] 5-9-2007(96): The membranes in your flesh rot when placed in the graveyard.
3) [PeterJD] 6-4-2008(65): マク Membranes (thin layers of connective tissue) are the part of the body that decompose first (i.e., before the organs, ligaments, bones, etc.) after one dies and is buried in a graveyard.
4) [Harrow] 4-9-2008(29): The membrane between the dead and the living is thinnest in a graveyard in moonlight.
